Welcome to the Congregation Beth Am Jewish Learning Center! The goal of the Jewish Learning Center is to provide meaningful, quality Jewish instruction in a caring, creative environment. Congregation Beth Am's Jewish Learning Center has been recognized as a "Framework for Excellence School," by The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, the first in the state of California. The prestigious certification marks the fact that the Beth Am JLC has met rigorous standards in professional development, curriculum development, and family education. Youngsters from kindergarten through seventh grade engage in studies of the Hebrew language and Jewish holidays, prayer, customs and history. Involvement in the larger Jewish community, as well as individual spirituality, is the focus of the studies. Stories, games, songs, drama and art enhance the curriculum for each grade. In addition, family education and class services are highlights of the school program. Seventh-graders, together with their families, also participate in monthly TNT(Tallit n' Tefillin) sessions. The Jewish Learning Center "kicks it up another notch" with special programming for all areas of study. Guest speakers have included tzedakah guru Danny Siegel, members of the Israeli military, Israeli college students, and Jewish fire fighters from both New York and San Diego. Other special programming featured the "Zionist Seminar," as well as all-school holiday events. The Jewish Learning Center offers two class sessions for children by age level:
Yeladim is the program on Sunday mornings for 3 and 4 year olds. Synagogue membership is not required for participation in this class only. The Beth Am Jewish Learning Center is located in the Carmel Valley area at 5050 Del Mar Heights Road. |
