Welcome to the Jewish Learning Center at Congregation Beth Am!

The Jewish Learning Center at Congregation Beth Am has been re-accredited as a “Framework for Excellence School” by the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.  This national certification recognizes that the JLC has met rigorous standards in professional development, curriculum development, and family education.  At the JLC your child will receive quality education delivered in a creative and enjoyable manner by caring and knowledgeable teachers.

From Torah to Talmud and Holidays to Halakha, the Judaic curriculum of the JLC teaches our students about the history, customs and traditions of the Jewish people in an enjoyable and experiential manner enhanced by games, music, drama and stories.  Our Hebrew curriculum focuses on the student’s ability to read, write and pray in Hebrew.  It is important for our students to participate in the community during prayer times, as well as gain an understanding and personal connection to the prayers.  Each class participates in a Shabbat Tefillah (service) and a Family Education program once a year.

The JLC “takes it to the next level” with additional school-wide  programming on holidays and a variety of Israel focused electives offered to 2nd- 7th grade students during the week (including but not limited to Israeli Dance, Israeli Music, and Jewish Cooking).

The Jewish Learning Center offers the following sessions for children by age level:

  • Kindergarten and first-grade students attend classes on Sunday mornings only. Either Early session (8:30am-11am) or Late session (10:15am-12:45pm).
  • Second through seventh-graders attend classes on Sunday mornings (either of the above sessions) and either Wednesday or Thursday afternoons.
  • Additionally, sixth-graders attend a special pre-Bar/Bat Mitzvah program on Monday afternoons.
  • Seventh-graders, together with their families, also participate in monthly TNT (Tallit n' Tefillin) sessions.

The Beth Am Jewish Learning Center is located in the Carmel Valley area at 5050 Del Mar Heights Road.
