JLC - Conversational Hebrew

 

JLC Conversational Hebrew Curriculum
September 2006/ 5767

Goal: To expose students to Hebrew as a modern, spoken language.

Schedule for Conversational Hebrew sessions:

Gan and Alef will combine for:
          • 5-15 minutes, every Sunday

Bet through Zayin:
          • 5-15 minutes every Wednesday and Thursday, between 3:45 and 6:15.
          • An additional 5-15 minutes every Sunday at teacher's discretion.
          • Classes can choose to combine as teachers wish.

The following vocabulary is sequential and builds on previous lessons.
Teachers will adapt for age and abilities of students.

Lesson 1: hello, children, the teacher (male and female)

Lesson 2: I, you

Lesson 3: who

Lesson 4: how are you, fine, thank you

Lesson 5: numbers

Lesson 6: I am __ years old (male and female)

Lesson 7: Yes, no

Lesson 8: eat (male and female), apple and honey, salad, banana, hallah

Lesson 9: what

Lesson 10: pita with humus, egg, pancake, omelet, pizza

Lesson 11: drink (male and female), water, milk

Lesson 12: want to eat (male and female), want to drink (male and female)

Lesson 13: please, yes-thank you, no-thank you

Lesson 14: the family, my, dad, mom, brother, sister

Lesson 15: I have, you have (male and female)

Lesson 16: dog, cat, fish

Lesson 17: play (male and female), doing (male and female), what are you doing?

Lesson 18: basketball, on the computer, cards, tennis

Lesson 19: soccer, hand ball, tag

Lesson 20: to play, come (male and female)

Lesson 21: with, a friend (male and female)
