Join Us for an Inspiring Afternoon!

Join us for a "Fancy Afternoon Tea" with elegant British-style tea and treats, top-notch speakers, and a fun "make and take" Pink Babkah project at the end! This will be a fun and inspiring afternoon where we will be able to learn the latest about hereditary cancer genetic screening and how to protect the health of ourselves and our loved ones. Space is limited, so sign up early to secure your spot!

Where: Beit Midrash at Congregation Beth Am

What: Tea will be served traditionally with quiche, English scones, delicious cakes, and many other treats, in an elegant and upscale setting. You will have an opportunity to sample many different types of tea, and take home any that have tickled your taste buds! 

Who: Liz Earne will provide a meaningful Dvar Torah, Diana Lerner will share her own Sharsheret story, and renowned geneticist Dr. Lisa Madlensky, Director of the Family Cancer Genetics Program at UC San Diego Health, will speak to us about the latest findings in cancer risk-reduction and early detection. Dr. Madlensky is a sought-after consultant for complex oncology cases, as well as an investigator on several national studies involving genetic testing for cancer risk.

Bonus: At the end of the event, we will move into to the beautiful courtyard to make customized Pink Babkas to take home and bake!

Dr. Lisa Madlensky has been providing cancer risk assessment and genetic counseling for patients and their families for 30 years. She was a founding member of the Familial Cancer Risk Counseling special interest group of the National Society of Genetic Counselors. As director of the Family Cancer Genetics Program at UC San Diego Health, Dr. Madlensky helps ensure that patients and families with an increased risk of cancer receive outstanding care, with a focus on cancer risk-reduction and early detection.
