Fantasy Football Highlights & Results (2019)

By Daniel Lieb

"Another season of Beth Am Men’s Club Fantasy Football is in the books! This year’s tournament certainly provided a fun distraction during these turbulent times.  Our managers required some deft skills in last-minute substitutions, as each week presented new challenges with players being benched and games rescheduled to the NFL’s COVID protocols.  The season began with a spirited online draft at the beginning of September.  We welcomed a special guest, Jonah Earne, who came off the bench to help his dad, Rabbi Earne, make some really astute picks.  The action continued for 13 regular-season weeks.  Former league commissioner Ryan Testa racked up the most fantasy points during the regular season and amassed an impressive 6 game win streak during the season. Unfortunately for Ryan, his luck ran out in week 14 and he was beaten by current commissioner Dan Lieb in the semi-finals.  Former Men’s Club President Josh Caplan was the victor in the biggest blowout this season, a 79 point smashing of Dan Lieb’s team.  In the consolation bracket of the playoffs, Rabbi Earne eeked out win in the semifinals after a nail-biting game against Brad Spilkin, then convincingly defeated Josh Caplan for to earn 7th place.  In the Championship bracket, Dan Lieb narrowly defeated Paul Needelman to win this year’s league championship.  Everyone in the league agreed that we’ll be hoping for an in-person draft and mid-season game watch party late in 2021!"
