JLC Mission Statement

Learning plus fun

  • Philosophy: The Jewish Learning Center is a modern, experiential center of Jewish growth.  We believe all growth begins in caring relationships exemplified by our teachers.  At the end of their journey within our walls, we wish our graduates to be active Jewish community members, who will feel comfort and ease at synagogues around the world, who can proudly read Hebrew, who yearn for the best in Israel, and who are excited to live a life that embodies Jewish values.
  • Curriculum: From Torah to Talmud and from holidays to heritage, the Judaic curriculum of the JLC enables our students to learn about our history, customs and traditions in an enjoyable and experiential manner enhanced by games, music, drama and stories.
Our Hebrew curriculum is designed to set up our students up for success for their B’nai Mitzvah and to instill an excitement to learn and speak more in their young adult years.  We use the Mitkadem program that is an individualized curriculum which focuses on reading, writing and comprehension and allows each student to proceed at their own pace. Each class participates in a Shabbat Tefillah (service) once a year. Lastly, all grades have set times for Hebrew immersion and learn and perform a modern Hebrew song at our annual community Winterfestigal Celebration.
  • The Jewish Learning Center offers the following sessions for students by grade level:
    • Kindergarten and 1st Grade students attend classes only on Sunday mornings from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
    • 2nd through 6th Grade students attend classes on Sunday mornings from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and either Wednesday or Thursday afternoons from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
