JLC Registration Letter

May 2018                                                                                       Iyar/Sivan 5778

Dear Parents:

Our JLC school year has come to a close, and we are looking toward next year.  2nd-6th Grade classes begin Wednesday, September 12th, or Thursday, September 13th.  Kindergarten and 1st Grade classes begin Sunday, September 16th.  JLC will conclude on Sunday, May 19, 2019.  A complete calendar will be e-mailed to you before classes begin.

I am looking forward to the following exciting changes:

  • Next year, I will be serving as the Education Rabbi for all of our youth education programs, including my direction of our JLC program
  • JLC “Winterfestigal” (formerly Simhat HaDimyon), at which students will sing Hebrew songs about Jewish values (e.g. kindness, respect, not wasting) in conjunction with year-long tikkun olam projects
  • Increased opportunities for student engagement and development of lifelong friendships through purposeful play, new service times, playtime during JLC class dinners, and more class activities targeting empathy and learning
  • You spoke, we listened – enjoy these benefits as part of your tuition!
    • Winterfestigal (including performance and snack)
    • Class dinner for all parents and siblings when your child is doing Shabbat Tefilah
    • A small snack on weekdays for the entire school to keep your children from feeling hungry and which will encourage socializing

Linked to this message, you will find:

  • JLC and Youth Registration Form
    • Download the fillable PDF here and e-mail it back to Heather Ray at heather@betham.com
    • If needed, special consideration forms for financial assistance are available here and must be completed, along with a $300 per child non-refundable deposit, at the time of registration
  • An explanation of our two special programs, Hebrew Enrichment and iJLC (please contact Rabbi Earne if interested); additional registration fees apply

All of these documents can also be found on the CBA website by going to the “Learning” tab and clicking on “JLC,” followed “Forms and Resources.”  Register by June 10th to be entered into a raffle for $250 Beth Am Bucks that can be used to pay any Beth Am charge.  Don’t miss out!

I am available to discuss your child’s classes, special needs, and any questions you have about JLC or the synagogue.  Please feel free to contact me at any time at rabbie@betham.com or (858) 481-8454.  I look forward to getting to know you and your children.

Sincerely,

Rabbi Matthew Earne
