Hanukkah (Hebrew: חֲנֻכָּה, usually spelled חנוכה pronounced in Modern Hebrew, also romanized as Chanukah or Chanuka), and known as the Festival of Lights. Hanukkah is an eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating the re-dedication of the Holy Temple (the Second Temple) in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt of the 2nd century BCE. Hanukkah is observed for eight (8) nights and days, starting on the 25th day of Kislev, according to the Hebrew calendar, which may occur at any time from late November to late December in the Gregorian calendar. We’ll serve up crispy, golden latkahs and a light dinner, plus offer fun activities for all ages to make the night extra special. Bring your Hanukkiah so we can light the candles together for the 4th night of Hanukkah, creating a beautiful glow of shared celebration. Camp Beth Am: Winter Wonderland

Right after JLC, all K–6th grade students are invited to celebrate the season with Hanukkah-themed games & crafts, a tasty kosher dairy lunch. PLUS... Surprises, laughter, and CAMP VIBES galore! Let’s make this winter wonderland unforgettable!

Hanukkah at the Highlands

Join us for a special evening as our community comes together with Rabbi Kornberg and Eph Rosenzweig to light the 5th night candles on the Hanukkiah at Del Mar Highlands Town Center. Celebrate the joy of Hanukkah with spirited singing, delicious sufganiot (doughnuts), and other festive treats! This year, we’re thrilled to feature a musical revue by San Diego’s newest Jewish theatrical company, Shayna Punims, titled “Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah.” We look forward to sharing this beautiful tradition and enjoying the holiday spirit together!
