ZAbout Us
About Us
Join us to celebrate our traditions, learn, worship, and embrace Tikkun Olam. Congregation Beth Am ("Beth Am") is a place where you can feel at home.
Since 1982, Beth Am has embraced the spirit of Dor L’Dor, passing our rich traditions from generation to generation as a Conservative synagogue in the heart of San Diego’s North County. We are home to members from diverse backgrounds, providing them an engaging religious life, opportunities for life-long learning from preschool to adult education, and innovative social and youth programs.
Our Guiding Principles
- Create an extended Jewish family where each member matters
- Inspire and motivate Jewish learning for all ages
- Infuse Tzedakah, Tikkun Olam, and a love for Israel in all that we do
- Maintain a warm and welcoming environment where each of us feels at home
Rich Spiritual Life
Led by Senior Rabbi David Kornberg and Rabbi Matthew Earne, Beth Am offers many opportunities for tefilah (prayer) through a daily minyan, Shabbat, haggim (holidays) and High Holy Days services. From Campfire Shabbat to community seders, at Beth Am we look for engaging ways to apply Torah to our everyday lives.
Learning for All Generations
At Beth Am, we embrace lifelong learning. The Beth Am Preschool (newborn – 5 years) provides children with the building blocks of early education through a program that is rich in Jewish culture, values and tradition. The Jewish Learning Center (Kindergarten – 6th Grades), a nationally recognized United Synagogue Framework for Excellence School, provides quality, creative education for the development of Jewish values, knowledge and skills. Sabra & Hebrew for Credit (7th – 12th Grades), aims to engage our post-B’nai Mitzvah students in an atmosphere of continued Jewish learning and social growth. The Center for Lifelong Jewish Learning, sponsored by the Mizel Family Foundation, specializes in adult education programs with a wide range of classes and cultural programming.
Programs that Build Community
From youth to empty nesters, our programs aim to enrich, entertain, engage and enlighten. View our calendar to find what’s happening with social action, Israel, celebrating holidays and festivals, social activities, family or adult retreats, fundraising and even wine-tasting.
